Something old, something new and ... a tornado.

Yesterday I went with Megan to a wedding for our friends Tyler and Kari! We knew that it was going to be an incredible wedding but what we DID NOT know was that it was going to be a potential natural disaster! The wedding started at four and by 4:30 we were downstairs in the basement of the venue! I kept getting calls from concerned friends/family members in SC ... they usually went like this:

Concerned family member/friend: April? Where are you? There's a tornado just a few miles from your house.
Me: Well, I'm at an outside wedding.
Concerned family member/friend: WHAT?!?!?!
Me: It's ok .. we're in the basement.

Well... after about an hour or so ... the bad weather died down... and we were able to move the wedding to the reception hall. Even though it wasn't what they planned, it was so beautiful. And it was so encouraging to hear them. Tyler and Kari took everything in stride. They were patient and just waited out the storm! Also, the sweet couple and their families really used the opportunity to point to the most important thing. The gospel was shared and those listening were reminded of the true reason for marriage. It's not about the day, the dress, the details or the plans. It's about using our earthly marriages as an opportunity to point to the heavenly marriage that will happen one day between Jesus and His bride, the Church. And they did. They shared that message beautifully.

Well... it was definitely eventful and we danced the night away after the ceremony. Meg, Diana and I didn't leave until 10... and it seemed like the party was still going! There were some causalities yesterday. Please take a moment and pray for those lost in the tornado and for their families! Here are some pics and an article on the tornado.
