Back from HHI :)

We just got back from HHI and I am so thankful for the time spent there :) I love Hilton Head. We have so many memories there as a family. It was also fun to remember my summers with Crosspoint and pass the good ole HHR ;)

We had amazing times of relaxation, were able to visit with family members who came up and saw some very dear old friends. Wednesday dad and I drove around the Island and stopped into PEP (Programs for Exceptional People). PEP is a "life program" for adults with disabilities. They provide post-school instruction, job training and recreation. It is truly wonderful. We were able to talk with Mark (my former boss) and a few of the students I worked with (Quinton, Tiffany & Buff). What a joy it was to be remembered! They all brought me so much joy and I am so thankful to have seen them again. We also had dinner with another former student, Lauren, and her mother, Crystal later that night. Lauren's father has been going through Chemo treatments for several years. I am amazed everytime I see their family. They have such faith and hope in our Savior. God has truly carried them through some difficult times but they just beam of love for God and for others. They are honest about the difficulty but they do not stay there. They are slow to talk about themselves and extremely quick to talk about the goodness of God and how much they appreciate the support of the Church. In the midst of his cancer treatments, Frank and his wife have started rehab facilities for young women with addictions and are currently working on housing for adults with disabilities. I'm so thankful to know them.

I'll try and post some pics later ... we had such fun spending hours on the beach under an umbrella, laying by the pool, playing putt putt, spending time with good friends, watching fireworks and laying on the beach at night. I was also able to finish 2 of Mrs. L'Engle's books and I'm anxious to get back and finish the 5th, An Acceptable Time (see right panel). I have so enjoyed this series and hope that, if you ever get a chance, you can too! Her fictional stories are delightful but they are full of Christian undertones and deep questions of humanity. I think I most enjoyed the last one I read, Many Waters. The twins are sent back to the time of Noah and the flood :)

Anyways... we're back in Charleston and I'm hoping to visit with a few dear friends before we leave. I can't believe that a week from this Saturday we'll be flying around the globe!!! Please continue to pray for us as we embark on our adventure. Pray that we would continue to place our hope in the Lord and that we wouldn't be pulled towards anxiety, worry or pride. Please also pray for the Concino family I mentioned earlier (Frank, Crystal and Lauren) as they are still going through a heavy trial.

Love you all and so thankful for you!
